Sandblasting
After products are manufactured by various production methods, marks from those processes remain on their surfaces. These marks remain visible even after surface finishing. Sandblasting carried out before the surface finishing of industrial decorative products removes production marks. We provide sandblasting services for your products before coating, according to your needs.
Why Sandblast?
- Cleaning: removal of rust, scale, old paint and coatings
- Adhesion: creating surface roughness so that paints and coatings adhere
- Appearance: a matte, uniform surface before anodizing; masking of machining marks
Choice of Abrasive
The type and size of abrasive are selected according to the part material, the required surface roughness and the subsequent process. Softer abrasives are preferred for finer, decorative surfaces, and more aggressive abrasives for pre-paint roughness and cleaning.
Points to Consider
- For thin-walled and delicate parts, pressure and abrasive are adjusted to prevent deformation.
- Threads, bearing seats and sealing surfaces should be masked.
- Sandblasting may affect dimensions slightly; tight-tolerance surfaces should be indicated in the technical drawing.
Sandblasting + Coating
Sandblasting is usually applied before anodizing, powder coating and wet painting . Sandblasted anodized surfaces look more matte and uniform, which helps reduce shade differences in colored anodizing (see Black and colored anodizing, in Turkish).
